Akbuk used to be known as just a small fishing port where the fishermen would go to catch delicious Aegean Sea bass. Today, however, Akbuk is rapidly growing into an elite tourist resort with its holiday complexes as well as summer houses, villas, harbour, and five star hotels.
Akbuk has a good range of shops and markets selling food, produce, tools and hardware. There are doctors, dentists, schools and a bus station with regular services going to all of the neighbouring towns including Altinkum, Soke, Kusadasi and Bodrum. The local market on a Friday is a magnet for locals and tourists alike.
Akbuk is not yet as well known as resorts such as Kusadasi or Bodrum, but has all the potential to become a luxury resort.
